Hello and a warm and official welcome to our website. For those new to the school, my name is Mr. Michael, the Principal or Headmaster and I have worked for the British Educational Institutes since 2003: as an English language instructor; a first and second English language teacher in primary and secondary; as Head of English and now my role is Principal.
I have lived and worked in Sudan for nearly 8 years. I arrived here in 2000 as a volunteer English teacher and spent my first three years teaching and lecturing in the universities here in the city of Khartoum, namely, Ahfad University for Women, Department of Psychology and Nileen University, Department of English. My qualifications are as follows: Bachelor of Arts-University of Sunderland-History/Comparative Religion; Bachelor of Arts with Honours-Arabic with Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies-University of Durham, United Kingdom; Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. I have ten years experience teaching English as a foreign language and as a first language.
My areas of interest are drama, particularly Shakespeare, writing skills, poetry and reading. While writing skills have always been one of the pillars of language learning, Shakespeare also constitutes an integral part of the English curriculum these days. So all of our pupils are encouraged to participate in drama because it develops language, builds confidence and teaches culture.
